About my work

My work investigates the emotional connections we have with the earth and the reciprocity between humans and Mother Nature. Using printmaking and drawing together, I investigate the theme of ecofeminism by showcasing how women and nature take up space in a world that doesn’t allow them to. Through nature, we are greeted with a mirror of ourselves.

Using a combination of hand processes, such as relief printmaking and drawing with colored pencils, I blend realism and carved lines, depicting women, bugs, and plant life that symbolically represent how women deal with patriarchal forces. Ultimately, my work offers a viewpoint of how women and nature are interconnected, as they both share the experience of exploitation by men and in finding appreciation for ourselves through nature. To quote Kimmerer's book Braiding Sweetgrass, “As we work to heal the earth, the earth heals us”.
